Description

The FIRST AID ESSENTIALS FOR CHILDREN course was developed by the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa and provides hands-on practice in the skills of first aid for children in the home/school, including prevention, medical emergencies, trauma injuries, environmental emergencies, CPR, choking and the use of Automated External Defibrillators.

2Y Certificate Validity

The certificate will remain valid for 2 years after successful completion.

Accredited by the South African Council for Educators.

RCSA Accredited

Accredited by the Resuscitation Council of South Africa.

Content

During the First Aid Essentials For Children course, attendees will learn:

  • Accident and injury prevention:
  1. Drowning prevention.
  2. Trauma prevention.
  3. Poisoning prevention.
  4. Burn prevention.
  5. Car safety.
  • Approaching an emergency and assessing the patient.
  • CPR.
  • Using an AED.
  • Recovery position.
  • Trauma emergencies:
  1. Bleeding.
  2. Head injuries.
  3. Eye injuries.
  4. Sprains.
  5. Fractures.
  6. Burns.
  • Breathing emergencies:
  1. Choking.
  2. Asthma.
  • Medical emergencies:
  1. Allergic reactions.
  2. Seizures and epilepsy.
  • Environmental emergencies:
  1. Human/animal bites.
  2. Insect bites and stings.
  3. Poisoning in children.

What You Will Receive

  • 20 page student workbook.

  • Mouth piece, gloves and pouch.

  • Certificate of attendance.

  • 10 SACE points.
